On both the Service Providers screen and on the Writer Profile / Editor Profile that you see when clicking on the service provider's name, there is a Negotiate button that allows you to send a custom request to the writer or editor asking him/her to adjust the rate you pay for direct assignments. Simply click the button, fill in the amount you want to offer the writer per word, then customize the email (if desired) and send the request. The writer can accept, decline, or offer a different rate, but this allows you to open the conversation with the writer to negotiate the rate you will pay. Many writers and editors are willing to lower their rates in order to secure steady work from a long-term client, so if you see a writer that looks to be outside of your budget, consider making an offer. On the other hand, if you have writers you love and you’d like to motivate or reward them to build loyalty, you can also offer more than their Standard Rate which is the rate they typically charge to new clients.
